SEAHAWK
The Australian Navy operates 16 Sikorsky S-70B-2 Seahawk helicopters. The Seahawk is a navalised version of the Army’s Blackhawks, and features a foldable four blade main rotor and tail section to facilitate stowing the aircraft in a frigate’s onboard hangar. The Seahawk is powered by two T700-GE-401C turbines, giving it a maximum speed of 330 kph and range of 1,295 km. The aircraft carries an array of sensors and is armed with two Mk46 torpedoes and one 7.62 mm general purpose machine gun. The Seahawk has seen service in the Gulf.
